The field was a mess for today's ultimate game (although as you know that's never stopped us in the past). Also, I'm hoping to start generating some more interesting content for this blog. While tracking my ultimate games can make for some interesting tid-bits of data, it does not make for a very exciting and dynamic blog. Here's hoping I can pull through.

Yesterday was another two game day. Lunchtime pickup was bitter cold with wind chills around 0 F. Field conditions were actually pretty nice though with crunchy, but not frozen snow cover. I also played my second BUDA winter indoor game of the year. We ended up with a tie. That's all I've got for now...

Ultimate Flurries

Wednesday marked the first time in a long time one of the Burlington lunchtime pick-up games was called off due to lack of numbers. I can't even remember the last time that happened. There were torrential downpours all morning long and a few of the regular die-hards had other commitments unrelated to the weather. Fortunately, though, the game was back on for today. Off and on snow showers over the past couple days left a soft coating of snow on the field, and light snow fall was persistent throughout the game. Those are definitely optimal winter ultimate conditions.

With business travel and jet-lag tying up my time over the past week, I haven't been able to play ultimate in over a week. In hind sight it was probably good for me to heal up my shin split issues a little by taking a week off from the fields. Over the week, I continued my stretching and strengthening exercises for my feet and lower legs and they have improved quite a bit. Honestly I think the biggest help was buying new "everyday" sneakers and putting Superfeet in them. They feel great.

In any case, onto the games. Today I played twice. The first game was my typical lunchtime ultimate game in Burlington. Apparently I've become such a pillar in that game, that all it takes is for me to miss a couple and everyone starts wondering what happened to me. I guess you could say me missing a Burlington game happens about as often as a Patriots loss. Hmmm. In any case it felt good to be back out there. It was different playing on a field without snow.

In addition to that game, I also played in my first BUDA winter league game of the year. Indoors, no wind, dry turf, and some good frisbee talent on our side made for a great game. We won pretty handily.

I'm definitely going to be sore tomorrow.
